Ion TV’s Christmas movie marathons are packed with original stories

Whether you’re tired of watching the same holiday TV specials or are just looking to add even more variety to your Christmas viewing, Ion TV has a marathon packed full of seasonal treats that you can watch for free with your over-the-air antenna. We’re talking three full days of holiday-movie merriment that you haven’t already seen a million times!

Like cable channels Hallmark and Lifetime, Ion β€” which you can get free with an antenna in markets across the U.S. β€” has an entire collection its own original seasonal movies that range from feel-good romances to suspenseful mysteries.

When it’s not the holiday season, the network offers a wide variety of programming, including original series and popular shows that originally aired on other networks. Currently, you can find shows like “NCIS,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “Criminal Minds,” “Chicago Fire,” “Law and Order: SVU” and many more.

But, with the season in full swing, Ion has decked out its programming schedule and packed it full of original holiday movies. Ion has been doing holiday movie marathons every Sunday since late November, but it’s not too late to grab your favorite hot beverage, some snacks and any other Christmas-crazed individuals in your life, and catch some of these fresh stories.

To watch Ion, all you need to do is have your TV set up for OTA viewing (a digital antenna connected to your TV is the most common way) and then locate the station in your area that broadcasts Ion. Simply visit the Ion Channel Finder online, enter your ZIP code and you’ll be shown the channel number where Ion is found in your area. If you have a streaming device or Smart TV, you can also watch Ion without using an antenna. Free streaming apps that carry Ion include Roku Channel, Freevee, Tubi and others.

The remaining holiday movie marathons will run every Sunday through Dec. 25. Each day’s marathon will begin at 10 a.m. Eastern and run through midnight.

We have a quick rundown of what you’ll want to snuggle up and watch! So, send out the invitations, get the snacks ready or set that OTA DVR for a holiday movie binge-watching session on your own schedule!

Ion Original Christmas Movies 2022

“A Prince & Pauper Christmas” has a neat double twist to the well-known story of lookalikes swapping roles of royalty and poverty. In this movie, a federal agent loses her criminal informant for an important case. That’s when she finds a lookalike to take his place, only to find out he’s actually royalty!

Other fairy-tale/holiday story crossovers Ion has put together include “A Cinderella Christmas,” where a prince and an event planner meet at a holiday masquerade party, “A Snow White Christmas,” complete with a young woman and an evil stepmother, and even “A Beauty and the Beast Christmas,” where the beast isn’t a prince under an evil spell, but a social influencer with a mean streak who might just be reformed by a woman named Ginger.

If romance isn’t your favorite Christmas movie subgenre, Ion has a number of original movies for animal lovers and mystery fans! “Dognapped: Hound for the Holidays,” tells the story of a missing puppy and how the owner’s assistant and a handsome local vet team up to bring home the kidnapped dog.

Or, maybe you’ll love “12 Pups of Christmas.” Imagine trying to find new homes for 12 puppies left behind at a holiday photo shoot! That’s what happens to the movie’s protagonist when her boss demands they all find a home before Christmas.

Meanwhile, wannabe detectives might enjoy “The Search For Secret Santa,” which sees reporter Sofia discover a long-lost secret Santa gift and uses her journalistic curiosity to find the original owner, and intended gift recipient. It all leads to a more dangerous plot than you might expect!
